Betty Trephan is a name you'll want to remember. This talented actress is making waves in the industry with her dedication, passion, and recent signings with major talent agencies. While relatively new to the professional acting scene, Betty's lifelong dream and recent accomplishments are quickly turning heads.
Betty's journey began with childhood skits and plays, but she's recently honed her skills through acting classes at First Take in the Bay Area. Her experience includes roles in local independent and student films, including a memorable turn as Lois Lane in a Superman fan film. "It was fun and rewarding playing such an iconic character, Lois Lane, and to bring my take and interpretation to that role," Betty recalls.
Big news for Betty: she's recently signed with Models Inc. in San Francisco and House of Representatives in Los Angeles. These partnerships will open doors to commercials, print ads, and, most importantly, larger roles in television and film. "Being represented by them will allow me to be submitted for bigger projects," she explains. "My goal is to break into bigger productions, to appear on TV and movies. And in order to do that you need representation."
Betty is open to a wide range of genres, with a particular fondness for heartfelt dramas and period pieces. She also dreams of representing her Ethiopian heritage on screen and participating in faith-based projects. "It would be great to be cast for a faith-based project. That's definitely a dream of mine," she shares. "And it would be amazing to be a part of an action film where I can play a strong, but really vulnerable character, who is complex and has human flaws that are really relatable."
Entering the acting world later in life presents its own set of challenges. Betty acknowledges the experience and connections of her peers who have been in the industry longer. However, she remains undeterred, focusing on her work ethic and continuous self-improvement. "It's really your work ethic and willingness to go for it and do what you need to do to market yourself, to show that you're ready to work, to show that you are actively working to hone your craft," she asserts. This includes voice lessons, exercise, and even learning new languages.
Betty utilizes online platforms like Actors Access and Backstage to showcase her skills and experience. She's also becoming more intentional about using social media for professional networking and attends casting director workshops. "I market myself by being on major platforms for actors... making sure all these places that I'm on are always up to date and reflect me in a positive way," she says.
Two simple yet powerful pieces of advice have guided Betty: punctuality and treating everyone with respect. "Show up on time, if not early," she emphasizes. "And treat casting directors and people in the industry as human beings that have real feelings."
At 33, Betty is filled with gratitude and excitement for the journey ahead. She credits her faith and the unwavering support of her husband, Tyler Trephan, for her success. "I'm grateful for God, who's led me towards this career shift towards acting," she says. "And I'm especially grateful for my husband who has been super supportive throughout my journey... with a great partner like my husband, Tyler, I feel hopeful about my future."
Betty Trephan's story is one of perseverance, talent, and unwavering belief in oneself. Keep an eye out for this rising star – she's destined for great things.
