TheZealot is making strides in the world of sports journalism with the release of Version 3 of their app to beta testers. This latest update includes voice messaging support, integration of previous interview history, and a revamped homepage for easier navigation. I had the opportunity to interview Tyler, the CEO, about these exciting developments.
The voice messaging feature has garnered positive feedback for its ease of use. However, Tyler acknowledged a potential trade-off: transcription accuracy. "It might be better to use voice messaging because it is easier for the user, but it might lead to inaccuracies because of the transcription," he noted. The team is considering exploring different speech-to-text models and user feedback mechanisms to improve accuracy, weighing the costs and benefits of each approach.
The integration of previous interview history into the AI interview context has shown promising results. While currently based on anecdotal evidence, beta testers have reported that the added context enhances the interview process and the quality of the resulting articles. "They're just more rich because they have the previous context from all your interview experience with TheZealot," Tyler explained.
To rigorously evaluate this feature, TheZealot plans to track article engagement (likes, comments) and interview frequency. An increase in these metrics would indicate that the context integration is indeed making a difference.
While the long-term plan includes verifying match results through web crawling or partnerships, TheZealot is currently prioritizing the core interview functionality. "We've been mostly just focusing on improving the interview flow and the quality of the interviews because we see that as the differentiator for our product," Tyler stated. By nailing down the interview process, TheZealot aims to create unique and engaging content that sets them apart.
Currently, the beta testing audience is diverse, including aspiring actresses, hobbyist rock climbers, and startup CEOs. This broad approach allows TheZealot to gather a wide range of feedback. However, for the official launch in the fall, the focus will shift towards collegiate athletes, particularly wrestlers. This targeted approach will ensure a higher quality product tailored to a specific audience.
TheZealot is committed to improving article quality by refining the AI writer agent through revisions and editing feedback. While post-match interviews and specific question formats are on the back burner for now, the team is dedicated to creating derivative content that resonates with users and their fans.
With its focus on innovative features and a commitment to quality, TheZealot is poised to make a significant impact on the sports journalism landscape. Keep an eye out for their official launch in the fall!
